How can therapy help?

Therapy can be a place to slow down, get curious, and begin making sense of what’s happening beneath the surface. Maybe you’ve been feeling anxious, overwhelmed, disconnected, stuck in the same patterns, or simply not quite like yourself. Together, we can explore what your emotions, thoughts, and different parts may be trying to communicate—without judgment or pressure to change who you are.

You don’t have to come to therapy with everything figured out. Our work can help you better understand yourself, build compassion for the parts of you that have learned to protect you, and discover new ways of responding to life, relationships, and difficult experiences. The goal isn’t to become a different person—it’s to feel more connected to yourself and more able to live in a way that feels authentic to you.

How long will I need to participate in therapy before I feel better?

Everyone’s experience with therapy is different. Some people begin to feel relief after just a few sessions—sometimes simply having a safe space to talk, feel understood, and make sense of what they’re experiencing can help. For others, meaningful change happens more gradually, especially when working through long-standing patterns, trauma, relationships, or deeper emotional wounds.

How long therapy takes can depend on what you’re hoping to work on, how often we meet, and what feels right for you along the way. We’ll regularly check in about how you’re feeling and whether therapy is helping. There’s no pressure to heal on a certain timeline—we’ll move at a pace that honors you and what you need.

What can I expect to happen in a therapy session?

Therapy with me is conversational, collaborative, and shaped around you. Some sessions may involve talking through what’s been happening in your life, while others might include slowing down and noticing emotions, body sensations, patterns, or different parts of yourself that are showing up. We may use IFS, creative activities, mindfulness, or simply conversation depending on what feels helpful to you.

You don’t have to arrive knowing what to talk about, and there’s no pressure to share more than you’re ready for. Some sessions may feel deep and emotional, while others might include humor, reflection, problem-solving, or just making sense of a hard week. We’ll follow what feels most important and move at a pace that feels comfortable and authentic to you.

May I include family members in my therapy sessions?

Yes, there may be times when inviting a partner, parent, caregiver, or other important person into a session can be helpful. We’ll talk about it together beforehand and decide whether including them supports your goals and feels comfortable for you.

Your therapy remains your space, and we’ll be thoughtful about boundaries, privacy, and what you’d like to get from the conversation. For children and teens, caregiver involvement may look a little different depending on age, needs, and what will best support their growth while still honoring their need for a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship.

How much do you charge?

My standard fee is $160 per therapy session, and I currently accept Aetna insurance. Your out-of-pocket cost will depend on your individual plan, deductible, copay, and benefits.

For clients using other insurance plans, I can provide a superbill that you may submit for possible out-of-network reimbursement. I also offer a limited number of sliding-scale spots when available. If you have questions about cost or payment options, feel free to reach out—we can talk through your options before getting started.
